Tourisme au Maroc
Morocco has a relatively comfortable place in terms of tourism on a continental scale, it is part of the leading trio made up of South Africa and Egypt, however, on a global scale, Morocco ranks 29th and Dreams of rising to 20th place by 2020. The number of tourist arrivals in the Kingdom of Morocco rose from 4.4 million in 2001 to 9.3 million in 2010 with an increase in tourist income from 31 Billion dirhams to nearly 60 billion dirhams at the end of the last decade on the eve of the Arab Spring. The growth of the tourist sector in Morocco was accompanied by a strategic plan called Vision 2010 of a target of 10 million tourists towards the year 2010, a plan launched on 10 January
2001 in Marrakech1.
As the 2010 vision expires with a tangible success consisting in achieving 93% of the targets, Morocco launches on November 30, 20102 a new program called 2020 visa ambitious to reach 20 million tourists by 2020. The economic crisis of Major issuing markets as well as instabilities post-Arab spring have greatly impacted Moroccan tourism which has stagnated since 2010. In 2015 the number of tourist arrivals in Morocco is decreasing by 0.2% totaling 10.259 million against 10.282 million in 2014. In order Morocco is preparing to expand into the emerging markets of Brazil, Russia, Eastern Europe and Asia, with the same objective of opening 57 new airlines3. The objective is to reach 1.5 million tourists from these new markets, which are growing rapidly.
The most visited places are Marrakech, Agadir, Casablanca, Fez, Tangier and Meknes.
